Mechanical CAD Designer

 

Determines and documents the layout and design of permanently installed products and systems used for on-going building maintenance and window washing.  This activity is accomplished by working with sales and engineering staff and building representatives to develop conceptual layouts, product specifications, and mechanical drawings for specific projects/job sites.   Assists the production team on manufacturing issues that may arise in product designs.

 

Duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and schematics
  • Document the layout of equipment and design of products, using CAD design/drafting tools
  • Translate engineering designs to detailed drawings for procurement and manufacturing
  • Generate specifications, manuals and close out documentation for specific projects
  • Develop product designs for new standard products or derivations of existing products
  • Responsible for project estimating “take off’s”, using sales team and customer supplied information
  • Interact with engineering team to generate information required for proposal development and/or project submittals
  • Generates Bill of Material (BOM) and cost estimates for new products or derivations of existing products and enters them into ERP system
  • Initiates Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s), develops documentation to support ECR’s
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical blueprints and drawings
  • 3 years CAD experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks)
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Understanding/application of drafting standards
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
